Would You Rather? on FamGames takes the classic conversation game and adds a guessing layer. Each round shows a dilemma with two options. First you pick the one you'd really choose. Then you predict which side most of the room will pick. The reveal shows exactly how the group split.
It handles up to 20 players, needs no explanation, and turns into a conversation almost every round. It is part of FamGames Pro.
What you need
Two to twenty players with their own devices, or one phone passed around to pick in secret.
Rules: how a round works
- Read the dilemma. Two options appear — for example, “Always be 10 minutes late” or “Always be 20 minutes early”. There is no right answer.
- Pick your side. Choose the option you'd honestly prefer.
- Predict the room. Guess which side the majority of the room will pick.
- Reveal. See the split and who picked what.
Scoring
You score +100 for correctly predicting the majority. With three or more players, anyone who is the only person on their side gets a +50 “Lone wolf” bonus.
Difficulty levels
- Easy: More time to decide.
- Normal: Standard timer.
- Hard: Snap decisions with very little time.
Tips and strategy
Separate the two choices
Your own pick and your prediction don't have to match. You can love the unpopular option and still score by predicting the popular one.
Know your audience
A room full of kids votes differently from a room full of grandparents. Think about who is playing.
Talk after every reveal
The best part of the game is asking the lone wolf to explain themselves.
Variations and house rules
- Explain or pass: after each reveal, one person from the smaller side has ten seconds to convince someone to switch.
- Write your own: between games, invent dilemmas about your own family and ask them out loud.
